In an extraordinary night for Čuvar Winery, the Guardians Chardonnay 2021 took home three coveted trophies at the Bayley’s Hawke’s Bay Wine Awards, winning Best Chardonnay, Best Single Vineyard Wine, and the ultimate title, Champion Wine of the Show.
It was a celebration of Hawke’s Bay’s wine community in every sense—a night filled with excitement, laughter, and genuine pride as winemakers, growers, and wine lovers came together to recognise the best of the region. The room was electric with the shared passion for the craft, and we were truly humbled to be part of such a remarkable event.

These awards are a testament to our talented team and the dedication that goes into every bottle, as well as the vineyards we’ve lovingly cultivated. Crafted from premium fruit grown on the Rivermere Vineyard along the Ngaruroro River, the Čuvar Guardians Chardonnay 2021 showcases the very best of Hawke’s Bay’s outstanding 2021 vintage. The wine exudes vibrant notes of stone fruits, baked apples, and hints of cinnamon and allspice, balanced beautifully with refreshing acidity and a natural ferment that adds complexity and elegance.
